David French

Director of Institutional Giving and Communications

David French, who oversees all of Anthos|Home’s communications functions and relationships with organizational supporters, has more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit housing and human services sector in New York City.

Before joining Anthos|Home, he worked for 10 years at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, most recently as Director of Philanthropy and Healthy Food Initiatives. In that role, he oversaw the organization’s institutional fundraising and led The Teaching Kitchen, a farm-to-institution training and technical assistance program that helped nonprofits serve more fresh, healthy and local food. Before that, David spent five years as a development consultant for nonprofits, including the Supportive Housing Network of New York, Homeless Services United and Homeward NYC (previously West End Residences). 

David has also done freelance writing, contributing arts and entertainment features, news stories, travel pieces and book and album reviews for such national publications as The Los Angeles Times and The Boston Globe. He is also the author of Heart Full of Soul: Keith Relf of the Yardbirds, a biography of the pioneering 1960s rock band’s enigmatic singer.

David holds a B.A. in art history from Swarthmore College and attended Hunter College’s M.F.A. program.
