Laura Lazarus

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer

Laura Lazarus has more than 30 years of experience in New York City’s affordable housing world, as both a developer and a leader in the nonprofit and government sectors.

Laura previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Telesis Corporation, which plans, finances and creates urban communities — comprehensive revitalization efforts that focus on affordable home ownership opportunities and mixed-income rental strategies. Before that, Laura spent time as Executive Director of Lantern Community Services, a nonprofit provider of assistance to supportive housing residents across New York City, and as Chief Program Officer at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a settlement house that serves 20,000 people annually. She also served as Deputy Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and, early in her career, filled other positions at Telesis and two law firms. 

Laura serves on the board of directors of HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services, leading its housing committee, and previously served as president of Women in Housing and Finance. 

She holds an A.B. from Princeton University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
