Naim Brown is Director of Place Based Investment for Urbane. Mr. Brown works collaboratively with Urbane’s Research and Consulting division to activate the company’s community and economic development strategy and create projects that fully and comprehensively reflect the community’s needs. In addition, his division’s work includes intensive ‘Residents First’ engagement and builds collateral for place-based curricular content, workshops, and other advisory services.

Mr. Brown spearheads Urbane’s public housing development and tenant engagement/empowerment platform that combines tenant-in-place rehabbing of existing facilities through the NYCHA PACT/RAD program with a comprehensive economic mobility and leadership development strategy that identifies, trains, and supports existing and emerging tenant association presidents and leaders. The Reid Park Rock development assemblage boasts 13 TA presidents overseeing 1695 units of housing created since Urbane’s management began in July 2022.

Mr. Brown holds over a decade of development experience and has been the project lead for the development of over 2700 units of housing in his career in both the development and consultant role. Mr. Brown’s resume of completed projects ranges from a spectrum of public housing, Section 236, and Section 8 properties to commercial buildings and 1 to 4 family
affordable homeownership units. Mr. Brown’s role at
Urbane includes working with local and regional elected officials and boards to advise development strategy; managing and leading the real estate development process including pre-development, financing, closing, construction administration, and placement into service; obtaining capital from a variety of public and private sources including municipal, state, federal, and tax credit opportunities, often through competitive RFP processes.
